SAMARAS LOVES OLD-FIRM DERBY

Celtic star Georgios Samaras has said that there is no match that can be compared with the old firm derby in terms of the pure excitement. Georgios Samaras has played in some of the greatest derbies in the world including the fierce Manchester derby while he was a Manchester city player. However, the Greece international has said that the old firm derby is much better than the Manchester derby when it comes to pure entertainment. After suffering at the hands of Rangers in the past few seasons, Celtic managed to win the Scottish Premier league title this season. Georgios Samaras played an integral part in the title winning season for Celtic.

Even though all the eyes of the world will be on the Manchester derby, Georgios Samaras thinks that the old firm derby has a lot to look forward to. Despite come as a bit of a surprise because Celtic have already managed to win the title from Rangers. The old firm derby at Rangers is now meaningless due to the title already been won by Celtic. The Manchester derby, on the other hand, will determine the winner of the title in England. It could also potentially bring about a shift in the power in the Premier league.

“I’ve been at Celtic since 2008 and in all that time the fight for the league title has gone down to the last day or two games before the end of the season. This year is a totally different story. I would prefer to have had the drama – but in the end it is the winning that counts. It doesn’t matter if it’s the last day or a month before, with one point or one goal difference, I really don’t care. I just want the medal at the end of the season,” said Samaras.
