REAL MADRID TRIED TO SIGN LEWANDOWSKI THRICE

Florentino Pérez explained yesterday to the Real Madrid partners that he had repeatedly tried to sign Lewandowski.

Now, the German newspaper Bild explains in its online edition that both Real Madrid and the Polish player were interested in reaching an agreement, but clashed again and again with Bayern’s “no.”

The first approach came in 2013. Lewandowski, who was still playing for Borussia Dortmund at that time, scored the four goals in the 4-1 victory against Real Madrid in the first leg of the Champions League semifinals.

During the return leg in Madrid Florentino Pérez had a conversation with the striker and tried to convince him to go to the Bernabéu, but Lewandowski already had an agreement with Bayern.

Two years later there were numerous more encounters between CezaryKucharski and MaikBarthel , former agents of the footballer, and the Real Madrid director general José Ángel Sánchez, but a transfer failed to materialize.

Bayern increased his salary and also made the transfer difficult by removing the release clause in his contract.

The last time Florentino Pérez went for Lewandowski was in 2018. The player decided to separate from his agents and deliver the matter to PiniZahavi who did everything possible for the Polish to sign for Madrid, but Bayern refused to negotiate.

It is also reported that Madrid were in the running for Greece defender Kostas Manolas who made a big-money move to Napoli this summer. It is thought that Manolas was among the players that were on the transfer target lists.

However,Zidane felt that former Porto ace Militao had a higher ceiling to improve than Greek defender.

Manolas is regarded as one of the best defenders in Italy and his move to Napoli was a major surprise. Napoli arelooking to partner the defender with Koulibaly as they seek to break their domestic duck.
