CARROLL MOVES TO GREECE
Roy Carroll has completed his much awaited a move to Greek club Olympiacos on an 18 month deal. The former Manchester United goalkeeper has been linked with a move away from his current club OFI Crete for quite some time now, and the goalkeeper expressed his delight at being able to complete the switch before the deadline date.
His return to Olympiacos will also enable him to play in the latter stages of the European football in the form of the Europa league. Olympiacos have been paired against Rubin Kazan in the last 32 of the Europa league, and the Greek club will be looking forward to getting all the experience possible from Roy Carroll.
Roy Carroll has been on the move since leaving Manchester United in 2005. He has played for the likes of Wigan, Rangers, and Derby County. He is, however, best known for his time at Old Trafford. The goalkeeper expressed his delight at being able to join a club that is still in contention in Europe. Roy Carroll is used to playing in Europe with Manchester United and Rangers. He has not been able to get the same at his new club and a few others during his career.
“It’s a real honour to be part of Olympiakos, Greece’s greatest team. I will do my best in order to contribute and help our squad accomplish its goals. I’m really looking forward to the Europa League games and my own comeback to European competition. I’m hoping that next year we will be playing in the Champions League, because everybody wants to play at the top level,” Roy Carroll said on the website of Olympiacos after announcing that he had signed for the Greek club. He has signed an 18 month deal with the Greek club.
